| Las semillas de chile habanero (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) disminuyen su germinación después de periodos de almacenamiento superiores a los 100 d. Los tratamientos de acondicionamiento revigorizan, aceleran y uniforman la germinación de las semillas del género Capsicum. En este estudio se acondicionaron semillas de chile habanero durante 144 h con aireación constante en agua destilada y soluciones acuosas (tratamientos) de: KNO3 al 3 %, polietilen glicol (PEG) a -0.5 MPa, ácido abscísico (ABA) a 10-5 M, y ácido giberélico (AG3) a 400 ppm. | A estimativa da variabilidade genética existente em um banco de germoplasma é importante não só para a conservação dos recursos genéticos, mas também para sua utilização no melhoramento de plantas. | ABSTRACT: The Habanero hot pepper group is not well known in Brazil, despite its origin in the Amazon. Nevertheless, domestic and international markets have been increasing the demand for this type of hot pepper. The Brazilian agroindustry is interested in supplying part of this demand with high quality products and competitive prices, and it needs well-adapted cultivars. To fill this gap, Embrapa Vegetables developed the Habanero pepper cultivar BRS Juruti, which meets the demands of both the market for fresh fruit and the processing agroindustry of mash and sauces. | ABSTRACT The orange-fleshed Biquinho pepper type cultivar BRS Tui was developed by Embrapa Hortaliças to meet the demands of fresh fruit and processing agroindustry of preserves, jellies, flavored oils and vinegar markets. Its fruits are very aromatic, tasty, and crunchy. It is resistant to important diseases, and presents high yield, uniformity and fruit quality. Moreover, ‘BRS Tui’ fruits are sweet and serve consumers who do not consume hot peppers because of their pungency. |

| Nove acessos de Capsicum chinense do Banco Ativo de Germoplasma de pimentas do Instituto Agronômico (IAC) foram caracterizados e avaliados nas condições edafoclimáticas de Campinas (SP). | El uso de inoculantes microbianos es una alternativa viable para nutrir los cultivos e incrementar su productividad sin deteriorar el suelo. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el efecto de inoculantes microbianos en el crecimiento y productividad de chile habanero (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) en invernadero. | Resumen En alimentos con multicomponentes dispersos, como las salsas, la estabilidad física del sistema es un parámetro de la calidad final. El comportamiento reológico de este tipo de productos depende de factores intrínsecos, como tamaño de partícula, peso molecular e interacciones moleculares, y factores extrínsecos, como temperatura, pH y fuerza iónica. | Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the action of paclobutrazol (PBZ) on the growth and ornamental value of two pepper accessions and two commercial cultivars of ornamental pepper - Biquinho Vermelha and Bode Amarela. A PBZ aqueous solution (250 mL) was used to soak the substrate at 0, 20, 40, and 60 mg L-1 a.i. concentrations when the plants had 12 cm height. At the end of plant growth, the follwoing parameters were evaluated: plant height, chlorophyll content in leaves, number of fruit and leaves, and canopy compactness at the time the plants reached maturity to be marketed, with 30% of ripe fruit. | The objective of this work was (1) to develop a dehydrated pepper with 45% humidity, determining the drying curves for pepper, with and without osmotic pre-treatment and (2) to evaluate the influence of both drying and osmotic treatment on the content ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in fresh pepper and pepper with 45% humidity. The experiments were carried out using the peppers cut in half, with and without osmotic pre-treatment, followed by drying in an oven at 70 ºC. The results showed that the osmotic pretreatment did not influence the retention of ascorbic acid during the drying of pepper. The sensory analysis regarding the color, flavor, and texture attributes revealed that there was no difference in the acceptability. |

| O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar três métodos para determinação do número de grupos em estudos com aplicação de métodos hierárquicos de agrupamentos, baseando-se em dados obtidos a partir da caracterização de acessos de Capsicum, de modo a identificar aquele com maior poder de discriminação. | ABSTRACT Murupi chili pepper is a hot Amazonian pepper that has been used as flavoring in the region, yet its diversity is unknown. This paper aims to assess the diversity in 20 landraces from Peruvian, Colombian, and Brazilian Amazon. The experiment was installed in Manaus-AM, using a randomized complete block design with three replicates and five plants per plot. Analyses of variance showed significant differences for all nine descriptors. Fruit yield showed, in average, to be 208.08 fruits per plant, tantamount to 381.44 g per plant. | Our objective was to study distinctions in the morphology of the pepper fruits (Capsicum spp., Solanaceae) used by indigenous (living in traditional villages) and non-indigenous groups (originated from migration and colonization, with or without miscegenation, living on non-indigenous lands) in the State of Roraima, Northern Brazilian Amazonia.
